How do I send you my manuscript?
We accept paper manuscripts only. You can send yours by mail to the following address:

I have a story I think you’ll like. What do I do?
You write it! Please follow the usual guidelines for drafting a manuscript: adhere to punctuation rules, use grammatical French and meticulous syntax. Use a standard font (for example, Calibri or Times New Roman, unless the font choice has a specific visual or graphic purpose) and paginate your manuscript. Read, re-read, and make corrections until you are certain it is the best you can make it. The target audience, between the ages of 0 and 18 for Bouton d’or Acadie, must be able to follow the plot easily. The story you are telling should come from both your heart and your mind!
We suggest that you flip through our online catalogue and read some of our books. Your proposal must be original and stand out against the hundreds of titles for youth published in Canada every year!
Please note that we give priority to manuscripts written in French by citizens and residents of Canada. Please do not submit manuscripts with illustrations included if you are not a Canadian creator; we always work with at least one Canadian creator for each project.
You will receive an acknowledgement of receipt of your manuscript by email. It is important to send us all your contact information (including your address, email, and phone number), visibly written alongside your manuscript. Non-solicited manuscripts sent by email will be immediately returned to their sender.
If you would like us to return your manuscript by mail, you must include a self-addressed envelope with sufficient postage. We cannot be held responsible for errors in handling and postage. Unless an envelope is enclosed, addressed, and stamped as described above, any manuscripts not accepted will be destroyed.
Be patient! We receive a large number of proposals: two to three each week on average. We make every effort to read them as quickly as possible in the order they are received. That being said, we only comment on manuscripts that have the potential to fit Bouton d’or Acadie’s mission.
Do I have to send illustrations with my manuscript?
Unless you are also an illustrator, we ask you not to associate another creator with your manuscript. If your manuscript is accepted, we will discuss options for illustration with you. However, the final decision lies with the publisher.
I am an illustrator and I would like to introduce you to my work. What should I do?
For illustrations only, we can receive a small number of image files or a link directing us to your portfolio by email. With equal quality, Bouton d’or, faithful to its mission, favours creators from Acadie and Canadian citizens and residents.
Anything else?
We hope that these remarks are helpful. Happy writing, and again, don’t forget to be patient!
